Dr. Rajiv Saxena is Assistant Professor of Spanish and Latin American Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India. He is the Project Director of UGC (Govt. of India) funded project and first recipient of UGC major research project in this discipline in India and the founder of Spanish Language Resource Centre (SLARC). Apart from this he has introduced the “Spanish without Walls” in India. He is currently doing research on Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) and Technology Enabled Language Learning (TELL) on L3 & L4 platform in India.
His recent books are “Perspectivas e innovaciones” (2009), “La enseñanza de español como lengua extranjera en la India: desarrollo y desafíos” (2008) and “Simbolismo e imaginería en la poesía peruana contemporánea” (2005). He has consistent publications since 1991 and published many books, research papers in national & international journals and his recent paper is “Translation and Transmission of Culture: Study of Spanish in Indian Vernacular” in Spain (2009). Presented papers in several conferences in India and abroad. Recently, he has presented the paper at SEMLANG, France (2009); University of Cordoba, Spain (2009) and recipient of several prestigious national and international fellowships.
He was Editor of “Hispanic Horizon”, the internationally recognized referred and listed Indian Research Journal of Hispanic Studies and former Assistant Editor of “Papeles de la India”, the Indian Journal in Spanish published by the Indian Council for Cultural Relation (ICCR), Government of India, New Delhi. Board/Panel Member of University Grants Commission (UGC), Ministry of Tourism (Govt. of India), Instituto Cervantes, New Delhi, Indra Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Kurukshetra University, Punjabi University and several companies in India. Graduated and Doctorate from JNU and Masters degree from the top ten University of Spain “Nebrija” and specialized diploma from the one of the oldest University of Spain “Alcalá”.
Involved in research and teaching since 1992. Taught at prestigious institute, college and university like: Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), New Delhi; Lady Sri Ram College (LSR), New Delhi; Faculty of Arts, University of Delhi. Former translator of “India Perspectivas”, published by the Ministry of External Affairs (Govt. of India). Provided Spanish language translation, interpretation and Intercultural communication consultancy to several MNCs, UNIDO, ILO, various ministries of Government of India and embassies in India. Apart from teaching & research has appeared on Television and Radio programmes as an expert. Involved in diffusion and development of Spanish language in India. Former member of Modern Language Association, USA. Member of Asociación Española de Estudios Interdisciplinarios sobre India (AEEII), Córdoba, Spain.
